World Scrap Industry (autumn) Economics & Trade Fair, which was sponsored by WorldScrap and praised as the first-class trade fair for the scrap dealers, has been successfully held in Ningbo Smile&Natural Hotel during 3rd-5th, Nov. During the three days, besides meeting many new customers, the traders were also aware of the trend of the scrap industry in the near future. Mr.Jiahong Wei, the vice-chairman of China Resources Recycling Association (CRRA) and some suppliers from Europe showed their opinions of current scrap industry. Though the industry was dull, the trade fair attracted nearly 500 companies both home and abroad.

Mr.Zhu, general manager of Jintian Copper: It will be harder in 2009!
Though China is a major copper consumer, we only have the right to produce and no right to price. In other words, the initiative hold by the traders overseas, our production was passive and the margin of profit was less. In such case, once some negative factors occurred to the market, the demands would decreased rapidly, which would force the companies amount slipping down. As the US financial crisis has spread to all over the world, China real estate industry and household electrieal appliance industry suffered much. Went through 11 limit down in October, copper price has slipped down to 30,000 (rmb/ton), but the price still a little higher for us. I think the market will remain going down and we will have a harder in 2009.

A scrap plastic enterprise in Zhejiang: The winter must pass by!
Though the price of PE, PP, PVC and other plastics went down rapidly, I insist the winter must pass by. As many stockpiles stocked in our warehouse, we have no order at all, the only thing we should do is waiting for a better market. Some companies had to downsizing and so do we, but I think the wave of the market is normal and it will be better in the future.

China scrap industry is lack of industry chain, which can make the market strength. How to achieve it, I think resource integration is one way.

The attendees of the trade fair said, though the market was in a depression, this trade fair offered a good communication platform between scrap buyers and suppliers, to know each other better.
The trade fair also attracted media from all over the country, Zhejiang TV, Ningbo TV, Zhejiang daily, Ningbo evening paper and Taizhou evening paper attended the trade fair to do full report.
